Why do my .htaccess rules do nothing on nginx?
nginx doesn't read them — equivalent behaviour is written in its central config (rewrite/location blocks) and reloaded. Translation guides exist for the common recipes; the model is different by philosophy, not oversight.
Should I choose nginx for my VPS?
For high-concurrency serving or proxy duty, it excels; for tutorial-following comfort, Apache's ecosystem is gentler. Both are excellent — pick the one whose documentation style you'll actually enjoy at 11pm.
Do prices go up at renewal?
