We convert prices into 20 currencies so you can judge the cost at a glance — and your card is charged in USD. Both halves of that matter, so here is the full explanation.
The Short Version
Four things worth knowing before you pay
None of this is unusual for an international purchase. It is unusual for a host to spell it out.
Display converts, billing doesn't
Prices across the site convert into your local currency at daily rates so you can judge the cost instantly. The charge itself is always in USD.
Your bank sets the final rate
Because the charge is in dollars, your bank applies its own exchange rate on the day — which is why the amount debited can differ slightly from the figure you saw.
There may be a bank fee
Many cards add a foreign transaction fee of roughly 2 to 3 per cent on non-domestic charges. That fee is your bank's, not ours, and we never see it.
Renewals are the same amount
Renewal is billed at the same USD figure you signed up at. The dollar amount never rises — though its value in your currency will move with exchange rates.

We detect your country
On your first visit we read the country your connection reports and pick the matching currency, so prices are readable immediately. You can override it any time with the currency switcher.

Prices convert at daily rates
We fetch exchange rates once a day from a public feed. Converted prices are an accurate guide, not a quote — the rate can shift between when you look and when you pay.

Checkout charges in dollars
Your invoice and the charge on your card are both in USD. Your bank converts from there using its own rate, and may add its own fee.

Questions about currency and billing
Why do you show my currency but charge in dollars?
Because showing you a price you can actually read is useful, and pretending we bill in your currency would not be true. Our billing system runs in USD, so that is what reaches your card. Rather than force everyone to mentally convert from dollars, we convert for display and state plainly — in the footer of every page and here — that the charge is in dollars. It is the honest version of a compromise, and we would rather explain it than hide it.
So the amount on my statement won't match the price I saw?
It may differ slightly, and it is worth knowing why before you buy rather than being surprised afterwards. Two things cause it. First, your bank uses its own exchange rate on the day of the charge, which will not be identical to the daily rate we display. Second, many cards add a foreign transaction fee of around 2 to 3 per cent for charges in another currency. Both are set by your bank. If you want to know the exact figure in advance, check your card's foreign transaction terms and its current rate.
Will you ever bill in my local currency?
It is something we would like to offer, and it is not available today. Doing it properly means more than a conversion at checkout: it means real prices set in each currency, invoices issued in that currency, and renewals that stay stable in it. Half-implementing that would create exactly the mismatch this page exists to avoid. Until we can do it properly, dollars with an honest explanation is the better answer.
Which currencies can I see prices in?
You can view prices in 20 currencies, and we detect a sensible default from your location. If your currency is not in the list, prices display in USD — which is also exactly what you will be charged, so nothing is lost.
Can I pay in a currency my card doesn't support?
Almost every card issued today handles international charges in dollars without any special arrangement. If your card is restricted to domestic transactions only, the payment will be declined by your bank rather than by us — worth checking with them if a payment fails unexpectedly. Our payment methods page lists exactly what we can accept.
Are the prices I see inclusive of tax?
Prices shown are exclusive of any local sales tax, VAT or GST that may apply to you. Whether tax is added depends on where you are and whether you are buying as a business. If a tax applies to your order it will be shown at checkout before you pay, never added afterwards.
How do refunds handle currency?
Refunds are issued in USD, the same currency as the original charge, back to the card you paid with. Because your bank converts again on the way back, and rates move, the amount returned in your local currency may differ a little from what left it. The dollar amount refunded is the dollar amount you paid.
