Compared Honestly
Email hosting price comparison — per-mailbox, per-domain or bundled?
Email pricing isn't one market, it's three different charging models wearing the same product name. Compare the model first and the price second.
The short answer
Email hosting is sold three ways: per mailbox (you pay for every named inbox, so cost scales with headcount), per domain (one price covers all the mailboxes on your domain), and bundled (mailboxes included with your web hosting at no separate line at all). For a solo founder or small team whose site is hosted anyway, bundled email usually wins outright; per-mailbox suites earn their keep when you need their collaboration tools, not just email.
The comparison that matters is model-shaped, not price-shaped: count your real mailboxes, project the headcount a year out, and run each model against those numbers before looking at any provider's table.

Comparing email hosting by scanning price tables is how most buyers end up overpaying, because the tables charge in different units. One provider quotes per mailbox per month, another per domain per year, and a third includes email invisibly inside a hosting plan — three currencies, one product name.
This page compares the models rather than the tables. Each one is rational for somebody; each one is expensive for somebody else. Once you know which shape your team is, the actual comparison takes minutes — and doesn't need a single number from us to be useful.
Per-mailbox: pay for every seat
The big productivity suites charge per named mailbox per month, which is beautifully predictable and scales in exactly one direction. Every hire adds a line; every leaver needs deactivating or keeps billing quietly.
What you're buying is rarely just email — it's the attached ecosystem of shared documents, video calls and admin controls. If your team lives in those tools, the seat price is buying real work. If you only need email on your own domain, a per-mailbox suite is the most expensive possible way to get it.
The audit that pays here: list the mailboxes you're charged for, then mark which ones are really aliases — info@, sales@, billing@ pointing at the same person. Aliases are free or nearly free in every model; paying a seat price for each is the commonest leak in small-business email spending.
Per-domain: one price, all your mailboxes
Dedicated email hosting sold per domain flips the unit: one subscription covers your domain's mail, with mailboxes limited by count or storage rather than billed individually. Teams with many light-use inboxes fit this model far better than seat pricing.
Its honest limits are the caps — total storage and mailbox count — and the fact that it's still a separate subscription with its own renewal to watch. The renewal habit applies here as everywhere: check what the second year costs, not just the first.
Bundled: email inside the hosting you already pay for
Our plans take the third route: email hosting is included with web hosting, so mailboxes on your domain, webmail, IMAP for your devices and spam filtering arrive with the plan rather than as a second bill. For a site owner who needs professional email, the marginal cost is zero — hard to beat on any comparison.
The trade-offs, stated honestly: mailbox storage shares the plan's allocation, and you won't find a suite's document collaboration attached. For solo founders, small teams and anyone whose email needs are 'send and receive professionally on my own domain', neither trade usually matters.
Bundled email also removes a whole category of admin: one login, one renewal, one support desk for both site and mail. When something breaks at 2am, 'it's all with the same host' is worth more than it sounds.
Running the comparison for your actual team
Count real mailboxes — humans who log in — separately from aliases, then project a year of hiring. Those two numbers, run against each model, produce the honest ranking: bundled wins while mailbox needs are modest and a site is hosted anyway; per-domain wins for mail-heavy teams without suite needs; per-mailbox wins when the suite's tools would be bought regardless.
Then check the two costs the tables never show: migration (moving old mail in, and out again someday — IMAP-standard hosting keeps both easy) and deliverability (SPF, DKIM and DMARC support, which decide whether your invoices land in inboxes or spam folders). A cheap model that fails either test isn't cheap.

The model where email stops being a bill
Every hosting plan here includes email on your domain — real mailboxes with webmail, IMAP on all your devices, forwarding, autoresponders and spam filtering, plus the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records that keep your mail landing where it's sent.
If your needs outgrow bundled mail, dedicated email hosting is there to grow into. But most site owners comparing email prices are a click away from paying nothing extra at all, and we'd rather say so than sell you a second subscription.
- Mailboxes included with every hosting plan
- Webmail plus IMAP for phone and desktop
- Spam filtering and mail authentication included
- One renewal, one support desk, one login
Why HostingAlly
What you get with every plan
Zero marginal cost
If we host your site, professional email on your domain is already in the plan — the line item other models charge for simply isn't there.
Standards, not lock-in
IMAP-standard mailboxes move in and out cleanly, so choosing bundled email never traps your mail history with us.
Deliverability taken seriously
SPF, DKIM and DMARC are supported and documented, because email that lands in spam folders is expensive at any price.
Room to outgrow us gracefully
Dedicated email hosting is there when your team's needs get heavier — an upgrade path, not a rebuild.
Getting Started
How to get going
- 1
Separate mailboxes from aliases
List the humans who need an inbox, then the addresses that just route to them. Only the first list should ever cost seat money.
- 2
Match your shape to a model
Modest needs plus a hosted site points to bundled; many heavy mailboxes points to per-domain; genuine suite usage points to per-mailbox. Decide the model before reading any price table.
- 3
Check renewal, migration and deliverability
The three costs tables hide: what year two costs, how mail moves in and out, and whether SPF, DKIM and DMARC are properly supported.

FAQ
Your questions, answered
What's the cheapest way to get email on my own domain?
If your website is hosted with a plan that bundles email — as all of ours do — the cheapest way is the one you already have: mailboxes on your domain at no extra line item. A separate email subscription only becomes necessary when your needs outgrow what's bundled.
Why do email prices look so different between providers?
Because the charging units differ: per mailbox per month, per domain per year, or included with hosting. The numbers aren't comparable until you convert them to your own situation — your mailbox count, your term, your existing hosting. Compare models first, then prices.
When is a per-mailbox suite actually worth it?
When your team genuinely uses the suite — shared documents, calendars, video calls, admin controls — rather than just the inbox. Bought for email alone, seat pricing is the most expensive model on the market; bought for the toolset, it can be fair value.
Do aliases like info@ and sales@ cost extra?
They shouldn't. Aliases and forwarders are included on our plans and cheap or free everywhere reputable, because they're routing rules rather than mailboxes. If a quote charges full mailbox price for every alias, that's the leak to plug before comparing anything else.
Will bundled email hurt my deliverability?
Not if it's done properly. Deliverability rides on authentication — SPF, DKIM, DMARC — and on sending reputation, all of which our bundled mail supports. Bulk newsletters are the exception: past a certain volume, a dedicated sending service is the right tool whatever your mailbox model.
